Boxelder Bugs

Boxelder bugs are black with red markings and 1/2 inch in length. They love to feed on sap and other sustenance from boxelder plants. They move to sheltered areas (nearby houses and buildings) in the fall and remain there during winter.

Sow Bugs

Sow bugs and pill bugs have the same look as shrimp or crayfish but are insects. Sow bugs are up to 1/2 inch in size and are typically dark and possibly grey in color. One of the distinguishing characteristics about sow bugs is that they roll into a little ball as a defense mechanism.


Pill and sow bugs love feeding on organic, a natural matter that is in a state of decay. These bugs may be found in damp spaces inside and or on the exterior of a home.

Asian Lady Beetles (Or Orange Ladybugs)

As autumn approaches, the beetles leave their summer feedings sites to protected places to over winter, same as the Boxelder Bug. The homeowner can assist by exclusion, sealing around doors, windows and eve, to cut down their entry points.

Centipedes (Hundred Leggers)
